PSI enters into a Licensing Agreement with Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) for Gun Shot Digital Imaging System, US Patent Number 6,965,541
RESTON, VA — Planning Systems, Inc. (PSI), a technology product company with the market-leading urban gunshot detection product - SECURES®, is expanding its product offering through a licensing agreement with Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL). The agreement is for exclusive use in municipal markets of JHU/APL’s Gun Shot Digital Imaging System patent, US patent number 6,965,541, issued November 15, 2005. This patent covers the methodology for recording one or more images of a source area where an impulse sound (gun shots and explosions) is detected by a device separate from the camera.

I've tracked this technology since 2003. Safety Dynamics and Shot Spotter are two other technology suppliers for Gunshot.
Safety Dynamics is a product that we have tested extensively and is being supported from Catalina Technologies in CA, ShotSpotter has several installations including Rochester, Chicago and others.
Not sure what the impact will be legally with the patent issued to PSI, Safety Dynamics has the camera integration and SpotShotter is in the process of integrating cameras.
