I started tracking video analytics technology initiatives back in 2003. There are enterprises who are considered "early adopters" and have implemented this technology, The US Army, Johnson & Johnson, Con Ed and Lehman Brothers. Lehman has been in the test mode with this technology and has evaluated various solutions for the past 4 years. I called Lehman to see what they finally decided on. Vidient is what I was told and I am imformed that Vidient passed the most "difficult" evaluation testing.
SPAWAR a Division of the NAVY tested Video Analytics. I am told that Vidient earned the #1 spot for their evaluation.
In a series of SPAWAR research centers and think tanks around the country, the U.S. Navy is fostering development of security systems and hardware that will have direct application for first responders and other homeland security operations. It has emerged as a model for interagency research and development.
The work is being conducted by 7,500 scientists and technicians under the Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, known as SPAWAR.
In addition to its role as one of the Navy’s lead research and development organizations, SPAWAR serves as a catalyst for the privatization of military or homeland security-related technologies. On a smaller scale, it also provides start-up funding for private sector security-related technologies. Last year, the agency awarded almost $1 billion in small business contracts.
SPAWAR performed an evaluation of the Analytics industry putting the technology to the "test" with Mil Specs. SPAWAR held 2 rounds, reaching the final testing and earning the #1 spot I am told is Vidient. I am in the process of obtaining a copy of this research study and am informed that it will be made available in August. (If you are able to assist me in sourcing these results, let me know)
Vidient is what the early adopters, The Army, J&J, ConEd and Lehman selected.
In a series of technology briefings that I have held with enterprise clients who are interested in learning more about what this technology is able to offer them in NYC, I have seen just what the particular behaviors that Security Heads want to be alerted on. They differ yet many are common. Total Recall embraces this technology and knows that it is the future of the video industry. Total Recall is testing the technology to the standards we require for supporting Law Enforcement deployments.
If you would like me to arrange to have a technology briefing delivered to your enterprise, let me know. I am holding meetings 2x a month in NYC.
Here are the reasons why the Vidient solution stands apart from other technologies.
Ease of Integration into an existing security enviornment. The Vidient technology is built on open standards and effectively integrates with the recognized enterprise software tools such as XML, Web services, etc. This helps the Security Division when faced with enterprise corporate compliance issues that exist with any new software deployment.
The Vidient product successfully coexists with other enterprise access control and video/NVR/DVR systems. (CCur, Lenel, ONSSI, Pelco, Intellex, SONY, etc)
Their product does not require our clients to replace any equipment. The business model for Total Recall Corp has always been to design "Hybrid" solutions. We understand the need to protect the investment made for current security solutions that are deployed within an enterprise. This philosophy is one of our secrets to success.
Flexibility.. the product allows for customization and camera selection dynamically further adding to the user friendly and ease of use.
Is the technology perfect out of the box? NO...it is a technology that by the sheer nature of its design is intended to augment the eyes and ears of the command viewing center guard staff. Some of the challenging deployments that involve difficult enviornments do require "tuning" to help the system learn. These services are offered by Total Recall, Vidient and the Client. Effective collaboration and a trusted partnership are the components that help to successfully face these challenging situations.
Each "tuning" is learned and the solution is retained. This is critical when it comes to any type of software development. Each learned behavior is captured in the form of a new template and it's components then become criteria for future "tuning" selection.
Mark Steffler and I are scheduling briefings for July 24th, let me know if you would like us to visit you. http://www.vidient.com/overview.html
